Fullcount Devlog #10: Seventh Inning Stretch

Fullcount Devlog

Hi! As always, thank you for playing Fullcount and keeping up with the latest news through these devlogs.

Before I tell you what we’ve been working on in the game this week, I have some news of a different type to share:

For a very exciting reason that we can’t announce quite yet, we’re going to temporarily pause our work on Fullcount and our publication of this devlog.

This is not a shutdown:

  • The game is still live at Fullcount.xyz and will remain so.
  • You can go on playing and inviting friends as normal.
  • All of the current features will remain available.
  • We’re still available for chat and support, and we will fix any bugs that pop up to keep the game running smoothly.

In addition, all of our plans for new features and future seasons are still intact. We’re just slowing down the timeline to take advantage of a great opportunity that has come our way.

I’ll restart the devlog as soon as we start rolling out new features, so you’ll be the first to know when we resume our regular updates to the game.

Now that you’re up to speed on our latest plans, here’s a look at what we’ve been working on since the last devlog.

Trusted Executors

We’re nearly finished with our work on the Trusted Executor protocol. We’re testing it right now, and we expect it to be live next week. Trusted Executor prevents delays in the game when the blockchain is under heavy load by bundling all of the actions in an at-bat into a single transaction.

New BLB

We’ve added a new set of Beer League Baller portraits to the game! Eight new characters drawn by Fullcount artist Anna Golova are now available. Expand your roster, make yourself a new avatar, and let us know which is your favorite of the new group!

Pictures of four baseball players: A man spinning a baseball on his finger like a basketball, a tattooed granny batting with her cane, a pitcher with flowing blond hair, and a very nervous batter with sweat stains under his arms and a ghost emoji representing his thoughts

Four of the dynamic new Beer League Baller portrait options.

Onboarding and UX/UI tweaks

We’ve just gone through a design review process in our effort to make Fullcount as accessible as possible to first-time players. We are preparing a list of updates that will make the game even simpler to understand–without diminishing its strategic complexity. These include:

  • More prominent information about pitch and swing options
  • Readily accessible support and explanations for players less familiar with baseball
  • A star system for showing the progression of difficulty for the campaign bots
  • Integrating the coach bots into the campaign to provide a seamless introduction to the campaign bots’ batting and pitching cycles, with new information about strategy and how to win

One of our first steps when we return from this pause will be an updated look that includes these and other quality of life fixes.

Stay tuned! There’s much more to come.

So take a minute to stretch…

Grab a drink and a hotdog. Sing a few choruses of Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Play some more at-bats of Fullcount: Season One.

And get ready: the next inning’s going to be a big one.
